Miss Isabella's quilt

I finished another batch of nine squares this weekend.

Which means that I took the time to lay them out so I can stitch them together.  Usually I do this when there is no one around but today was different.

I had help from my Beloved and the Smallest Short Person.  They had a lot of input and liked the way the quilt came together.  A lot!  They also played and talked and told me stories.

They helped me pick it up and put it back into a pile.  Off to the sewing machine I go again....

binding is done and off to a new home

The binding is done.

I spent a good portion of time on Saturday hand stitching the binding because I am never happy when I machine stitch it.  I take it all out.  At least there was not surf on Saturday like it was forecasted so stitching and watching documentaries worked.

It went to its new home today.  And I have a third of the nine squares done for a small little girl who was born earlier this month.  That and a kilt to finish.  I could spend many hours sewing but a break was needed today so there was a walk to the library after work.  More sewing tomorrow!

basting the quilt

Once the quilt back was done, it was time to baste.  Top, batting, and back all together.  I baste with safety pins and I actually ran out while pinning.

I was surprised how sharp the new ones are!  It was just the right task because I got caught in the rain last week on my bicycle ride home.  The damp was just enough to push me into a cold.  I have been moving rather slow this week.  But the quilt is all basted!  Quilting happened next.  I will show a picture tomorrow.  I might have all the quilting done on Friday.  That would be exciting.

some success today

So this was not the post that I wished to post tonight.  I keep working on gluten free gnocchi and am never statisfied.  I had seen a recipe for gnocchi that had potato and ricotta in them.  I thought that might work better but it did not.  They were not the epic failure I have had with gluten free gnocchi in the past but they were not really worth writing down.  Sometimes though I just have to share my frustration.

I did get the quilt back for a baby quilt I am making done.  The little boy who I am making the quilt for was born the week before the Smallest Short person.  I have just enjoyed being a Grandma Lady and had the most fun this holiday season with family that I have had in a long time.  I have about a third of the quilt quilted right now and will share when it is done.

But this was a success.  And it went together easily.  Now, if gluten free gnocchi would.....

pixie quilt completely done in time

I got the quilt done in time for the shower!

The stitching and moving of safety pins seems to go on forever.

But finally, all there is left to be done is the binding.

And once the binding is done, the quilt is done!

The front, bond and quilted.

The back, bond and quilted.

I know it was a hit because of the Tall Short Person's excitement.  As well as it is already in the Pixie crib!
