last of vacation makings

I am still catching up on posting all my sewing from vacation.  I have to admit that I miss the weather.  In the coastal mountain range, I was able to sew comfortably outside but needed sweaters in the morning and evening.  I do miss it.

My last simple bag.

It is very blue.

And the last bag with patchwork pockets.

My best friend actually got two of the patchwork pocket bags.  One as a gift and the other she purchased.  I am trying to put stock together for an Etsy shop and the time to put it together.  Maybe I will find the minutes this weekend.  So if you are interested, I will let you know when the shop happens.

Do you ever feel like you need more hours in the day?

just for me

Every time I turn around, I cannot seem to find a bag for my shopping.  Sometimes I even need more then one!  With all the bag making going on, they have been earmarked for other tasks.  I decided I was going to play with a new design and it would be for me.

I pieced many square together.  I hand quilted the pocket.  I have a new bag!

One side is very sedate.  For those times that I need to be business like.

The other side is bright and busy.  I used a dragonfly fabric on this side of the handle.  I really like it.  It is like the baby quilts I make.  I never quite know how they are going to look but always have interesting patterns and combinations.

My Beloved and I decided that yesterday's peach pie needs to metamorphosis into a peach crisp.  Do not be surprised if you see that soon!

bag and knife

I will get all the bags posted that I made while we were gone.

I actually sent my Beloved and my Tall Short person to the fabric store without me yesterday.  Actually, it was in a different city three hours away.  They did a splendid job so there will be more bags soon.

This is what we went away for.  My Beloved forged another knife with his teacher Murray Carter.  He is actually selling it at his shop Serenity Knives .  But I admit to coveting it.  It would make a lovely bread knife.  My Beloved says he wants to make me one when his forge is done.  I can hope?

a bit of hand quilting

I played with the pockets a bit on this set of bags.  Part of it was that I wanted hand stitching to take with me when we had dinner with my Beloved's brother, sister-in-law, and friends.  I also wanted a pocket that blended better.  I decided to make it patchwork and then I hand quilted it.

I was thinking this was a bit of work so I also did some of the quilting on my machine.  The machine quilting is straighter but I think I actually like the hand quilting better.  It just takes much time!

This is the probably the most mellow of the bags I made last week.  It is strange to be back in an office.  I find that I have a hard time sitting that still.  I miss the creating and the playing with textures and fabrics I did all day long while at the campground.  I will just have to figure out how to do more.

back!

We are back from our travels.  I have to admit that I would rather be where we were but there is not much I can do about that currently.  Part of that is what that I got a lot of time to sew.  Not to post thought.  My Beloved had an evening where he and the toilet were close friends so I did not even leave the camp site.  Then, we were on the road.  This is my first day I have had the opportunity to post since last week.

I stitched so much while we were traveling and camping that I ran out of thread!

It was a bit frustrating but it did mean that I had time for meandering.

I went for a walk in the mountains.  Most people would call it a hike but then you have to remember my Beloved calls my walks on the beach treks.  I know I walked up and down for over seven miles.  I thought it was easy but then it was not a fourth degree scramble.  I was in a skirt and my sandals.  I just walked in the woods.  It was beautiful.

I was able to finish many bags.  I will post them.  This one, I loved.  We got the chance to spend a couple of hours with our best friend during our travels.  Miss N was gifted with this bag.  And she bought another!  I made a sale before I could get my store open!

This one was one of my favorites.  So was the other one she purchased.  I am making myself another bag as well.  I find the bags I make keep getting used!  It is a very good thing.
