curtains

In our wanderings yesterday, my Beloved and I found some fabric for curtains for Aria, our travel trailer.  It is a Liberty of London cotton that has peacock feathers that match the coverlet that we put on the benches.

My Beloved helped me by pinning the edges.  I was actually cutting fabric for other things while he did this for me.

I moved outside, setup my hand crank sewing machine, and started stitching.  The sewing went very quickly because it was all straight edges and we are using the old hardware, until we change our minds.  The only difficulty was it was WINDY!  The clouds were out and it is still a bit chilly.

They are done and up!  It changes the whole space and makes it more of our own.  We have the curtains around our bed still to do but we are much closer!

covering

I may have mentioned that we travel in a travel trailer.  We like having our own bed and our own kitchen.  Maybe it is more I do but I think I have convinced my Beloved that it is a good thing.

The beige is getting to me.

It is beige (like the DMV).  And it collects dust and is hard to clean.  We were in Target and I saw a coverlet that I thought would work very well.

We moved outside with the coverlet cut in half and the raw edges pinned.  I needed my Beloved's help because my hand crank was a bit difficult to use the thickness I was hemming.  But we got it done!

And now the beige is gone!  It make me smile every time I walk into this space.  I also can wash and dry these covers MUCH easier!  I am being very smiley now.  The next is to change the shades to curtains.  We found a Liberty of London print that we are going to see if it goes well.  If it does, curtains are next!  No more silver shades!!!!

More smiles!

stitching in the heat (bag)

All I really want to do right now is drink large amounts of hot tea and sew.  But it is about 100 degrees outside, plus or minus a little bit, so the large amount of hot tea seems a little crazy.  I am drinking it any way because that is what I want and I am getting a little bit of sewing done.

I got another bag done.  My Beloved walked by when I was taking pictures of it and said "wow, I like that!"

I do as well.  This red side is a strange little Christmas print that I found as a remnant.  I would not have thought it was a Christmas print though until I read the selvage.

I have one more bag to make like this.  I bought more fabric this weekend and I am going to change the pocket.  The funny thing, I never have enough bags for me!

of butterflies and pink mice

I have had two week days in a row where I have been able to sew for more then ten minutes.  Yes, part of that is due to a cracked ankle that I am trying to heal.  It means that when it aches, I do try to stay off of it.  The conditions on the ice yesterday were appalling so it was better that I stayed home.  I finished a bag yesterday and I finished one today.

One of the fabrics has little tiny pink mice!  You do not even see them if you do not look close.  They just look like the rest of the patterns.  I have to admit I love this fabric but I really do not like mice.  Yuck!

The other fabric had butterflies!  Mice and butterflies.  It made me smile the whole time I was working on this bag even with trails and tribulations.  I had oiled my sewing machine earlier this week and I had to work on the tension.  It required patience when all I really wished to do was sew.  I keep getting reminded that is a lesson I need to learn.

With mice.

With butterflies.  And lots of smiles.

experimenting with more color

Ten minutes a day is all I have sometimes on my sewing machine.  Today I actually got a bit more today.  I am experimenting with more color.

It was bags again.

With pockets per Miss E and my Beloved (yes, I got told).

I thought I would like this side best.

But I think I like this side better.  I really think it just came together better.

I was thinking as I was stitching that I am very hard on clothes.  I used to double seam everything and for some reason I stopped.  Now I am getting holes in my seams much faster.  I think I am going to have to go back to double seaming all my clothes.  I will never show you the state my half slip is in.  It is along the lines of the shoemakers children have no shoes.
