the mountain garden

The small garden I was able to dig up on the mountain has flowers!

Mostly cosmos.

There are a few marigolds too.  I saw two bean plants but did not look very closely for beans as I was stacking firewood.

I was hoping for some broccoli but that will probably be a year that I have more time up on the mountain.  I can pay more attention then.

The flowers do make me smile!

sadness

We are taking the Small Mister back to the Tall Short Person.  He told my Beloved to pick these flowers for me from the garden.  I am going to miss him greatly.

I am sad.

I think I should say it like Gerald the elephant.   Sigh.....

non-meditation but joy

I was baking my brioche au chocolat today.  And running herd on a small boy.  The Small Mister did not nap and the energy just kept rising.  I was able to work on the quilt for a but but my sewing room.....

Most people are probably familiar with the ALS ice bucket challenge.  Think that with buttons and you will envision my sewing room.  The Small Mister loves my button tin!  It is a hat.  It is a drum.  It is anything but a holder of buttons!  It dumps buttons.  Dumped buttons get fought with "swords."  All my weaving tools become swords.

Not very meditative but life is full of joy this way.

weekend

It has been a quiet weekend, which I enjoyed after the business of the end of the week.  I had an event to go to and then there was just too much to do!  But that is life.  This weekend has had a few books read, a few movies watched, a walk taken, errands ran, and hopefully a trip to the beach this afternoon.

I have a craving for chocolate.  I have started some brioche au chocolat.  I will be able to put them in a bag for our next travels, which is soon.  It has snuck up on me.  Small Mister and I will have lovely "cookies" for our travels.  All my bread that ends up in a shape of a roll is called cookies by the small boy.  It does make me smile.

hands in dough

I have needed my hands in dough.

I have not been very inspired to try new things in the kitchen this summer.  It may be the heat.  It may be that I am tired.  We keep running hard and I caught a cold after Indianapolis.  It may be that I just need my hands in more yeasty dough.  Get the creative juices flowing.

Main dishes have seemed to be centered around fish and veggies.  My Beloved and the Small Mister can eat fishes every day of the week.  No one seems to be very interested in sweets.  A single cookie.  A glass of chocolate almond milk (both of the boyos like this!).  A mug of hot sweet tea.

More hands in dough!
