quilt back

When I got home from work today, it was to find that my Beloved was forging.  I put the kettle on and made myself a cup of tea.  A cup of tea and a cookbook to read was what it took me to undwind.  I will not say I had a hard day at work but the transition from work to home is never an instant thing.

I actually had the time and energy to sit at my sewing machine after my tea.  I finished the back of Miss Isabella's quilt today.  It may be a few days before I get the quilt all pinned together for quilting but this rather pleases me.

It is amazing what a little relaxation brings.

MacKenzie - with fangs but no claws....

Since I got such a look when Malcom did not have fangs and claws, I made one of my strange creatures with fangs.

And hair.  Because Small Mister goes for my skirts, aprons, and any piece of cloth I will let him get to.  MacKenzie's hair is the funniest part according to the Small Mister.

The fangs and smiling red eyes are pretty cool too!

It is not the most frightening strange creature I have ever made, but MacKenzie is a strange creature.

Malcom

We went off camping for the last bit.  It was nice to be out of town but you can really tell that parts of Texas are still in drought.  No rowing or fishing went on because the water was so low.  And as my Beloved said, not sure we would want to eat the fish out of their anyhow!

For Easter, I made Small Mister a rabbit similar in size to Rose.  He really likes Rose because all her appendages are very chewable and grabable.  I thought he needed a friend to be able to accompany him on all his adventures.

I made him out of a very raggedy cashmere sweater I use for skating or when I am working around the house.  It smells like me.

The ears are a bit of quilting fabric that I have not used yet.

Small Mister likes Malcom a lot but is asking "Where are those fangs and claws I heard about?!?!"

But Malcom is liked any way.

eyelet top

My friend Jewels sent me a picture of a top from etsy she thought I would like.  I did but the seller was not making that style in that fabric anymore.  So I made something similar.  The Tall Short Person helped me pick out the fabric.  It is an eyelet that has a flower pattern.  It is really a simple top.  Cut a bit wider at the bottom so there is some swing.  Cut a bit shorter so it does not get tucked in.  I put a deep hem on it and cuffs, which were not on the original.  I also did a different closure in the back.

My Beloved picked out the button.  It is pearly and shiny at the same time.  It sparkles.

The fabric is so soft that it wrinkles when you look at it sideways but the soft is very nice.  I have a feeling that this is going to be one of my favorite tops and I will wear it out before I am ready.  That happens to often for my pleasure around here!

binding is done and off to a new home

The binding is done.

I spent a good portion of time on Saturday hand stitching the binding because I am never happy when I machine stitch it.  I take it all out.  At least there was not surf on Saturday like it was forecasted so stitching and watching documentaries worked.

It went to its new home today.  And I have a third of the nine squares done for a small little girl who was born earlier this month.  That and a kilt to finish.  I could spend many hours sewing but a break was needed today so there was a walk to the library after work.  More sewing tomorrow!
