a new shopping bag for my Beloved

With all our travels last month and the acquisition of a "new" travel trailer, our shopping bags got misplaced.  Not so much misplaced as unaccessible currently.  And the county our land is in does not allow the use of plastic bags.  You have to bring your own or pay for bags.  It is usually not a big deal but when bags become unaccessible you need more.

I let my Beloved pick out fabrics for two for him.  This is the first.  The green is actually an outdoor upholstery fabric.  I am hoping it will wear better because some of our shopping bags are a bit worn.  The orange was what he had to have.  It works.  One more to make for him and one for me.  I should have sewn some more tonight but it was a nice quiet evening.

receiving blankets for a small babe

After finishing the quilt, I put some receiving blankets together for one of the gentlemen at work.  He and his wife are having a small boy in September.  Most of the blankets for sale are just so pastel.  I like brighter colors.  So do babes.  And these are soft.  Small Mister would hold on to them tight.

Actually, Small Mister would have stolen the orange polka dot blanket if I had it shown to him.  I do not know many of this babe's Momma's interests but I did know a few of his Poppa's.  I kept that in mind when picking fabric.  They turned out very nicely.

quilting done

Last night we went to Cirque Du Soliel.  We like them.  I think we all wish we were that strong or that flexible or both.  I really like the aerial silks.  This one did not have any but it did not mean I did not enjoy it.  I know of a class that is taught here in town and I keep thinking I will take it.  Maybe for Christmas or my birthday.

Also, my whole schedule changed this week.  Skating has been on the same evening for years and the rink cut back hours where I can skate.  I had to move rinks and times.  It makes this week feel very strange.  I know I will get used to it over time but it will take time.

Even with all the different and change, I finished the quilting!  I am currently putting the binding on (and working on another quilts pieces and making receiving blankets for a gift and .... you should see the list!).  I hope to have a few quiet minutes tomorrow to finish the binding.  Then a bicycle ride or a skateboard ride to deliver it to Miss L.

This is if it does not rain!  Just another twist.

purple kilt .... done!

My Beloved's new kilt is done.  I think the best compliment is that he is currently wearing it even though it is not perfect.  I would do the pockets differently next time, as well as the under apron.  But that is part of the learning process.

Especially when you are adding new bits that are not in the original pattern.

I wonder what color he will chose next....

Miss Lillian's quilt top

Even though I was under the weather, hurt, and went visiting last week, I was able to do some sewing.  I finished Miss Lillian's quilt top.  I am working on the back now.

With the help of small fingers, it turned out well.  Small Mister is truly fascinated by the workings of the sewing machine!
