finished before I went gallivanting

I finished another sheath dress before I went gallivanting.  It is a black, brown, and orange wool.  It is a bit stiffer then most I pick out so there is not as much give.  It makes me stand up tall and my shoulders need to be in the best shape possible for me to zip it all the way up.  I actually had to ask Miss A at work for help when I changed out of my bicycle clothes.  My shoulders were just too stiff.

I really do like this fabric.  I do some more yoga and my shoulders may work well enough for me to zip it myself the next time I wear it.  I can get it unzipped!

There was more rain today.  And sunshine.  There is supposed to be more rain this weekend and I just hope there is enough dry weather between now and then for some of the water to drain.  The bayous are still running extremely fast.

I also found out today that next week I will have Koda Bear, Bandit (his dog), and my Beloved back.  It will be a strange full household.  I got a picture of a very nice unfinished garage/shed today.  The apartment will not be finished in it or cisterns for water capture but that will all happen.

for hauling projects around the country (and mother's day gifts)

I decided to post early today because it could be another day like yesterday.  I was in bed by 6:15 pm.  I did not know if it was going to be a nap or all night.  It ended up all night.  But the cough that was starting is gone.  Sleep can be magic.  I am not currently as tired as I was this time yesterday but I felt better safe then sorry.  I was a zombie yesterday at this time.

I was read a few design blogs.  I came across a post about a new store that had a lot of cool designs.  For things like ways to carry your calligraphy supplies around.  My type of stuff.  They carried a lovely origami bag.  Linen.  Leather around the handle.  Large enough for my fiber projects, whether crochet, sewing, or spinning.  But they wanted $165 for it!  Yes, linen and leather but the bag takes very little work to make.

I went to Home Depot.  Bought the smallest canvas tarp they had.  With tax, it was $12.  I washed it twice and dried it in the dryer.  How very odd for me but I wanted the softness and for it to dry quickly.  I did some rough calculations, and cut four large rectangles.  Four bags.  My calculations were off or it would have taken less time to put them together.

A bit of stitching.  Taking some hemp fabric I had in my stash to make a contrasting handle and they were done.  Four bags for $12 and time.  Mine took all my fiber arts across country with me.  I sent one to my Mom and the Tall Short Person for Mother's day.  The last was supposed to go to my best friend but our meeting in Colorado did not happen and I have not gotten the newest forwarding address.  But that is life.

If I had had access to some soft leather, I would have put handles like that on them but I was being a hermit and did not wish to leave my machine.

another dress

I had found a really nice piece of wool that was black based but not plain black.

I could wear black every day.  I wear dresses everyday.  This breaks it up a bit.  I read an article about a creative woman who bought herself a uniform so she had an easier time feeling put together at work, white blouse, black slacks.

I realized my a-line dresses are very much the same.  It has been something I have unconsciously done for a long time just changing the uniform.  Dresses mostly.  Different lengths at times.  As I have gotten older, I do this more.  Find a group of clothes or a single style that is most comfortable.  Currently, a-line dresses.  Just under the knee.  Sleeves.  No sleeves. These might be around for awhile.  I do enjoy not tripping over my hems.

I break these up a bit with sheaths.  They feel a little bit dressier and even more classic.  I also do not trip over my hems in these.

I was really tired of tripping over hems.  My last frontier dress I made shorter then normal because I was so tired of tripping.  I really like it.  Now, if I could just find some more lovely flannel.  I think it will be next fall before that happens.  I do feel a bit babbly today.  Oh well.

did not get done in time for the easter box

I got another pair of pajama pants done for Koda Bear but I did not get them done in time for the Easter box.  I think I will send them with my Beloved to the mountain.  Koda Bear and my Beloved with Sharpening Chris are buying a tractor.  The boyos are SO excited!

I am enjoying the simple sewing I do not have to think very hard about.  Yes, today was a better day then yesterday but I need some time off.  We are going to the motorcycle races starting tomorrow but that is not really time off.

I am thinking that I need some gallivanting.  The possibilities just keep getting greater in my head.  Currently, I am day dreaming about going to the Oregon Coast while the boyos are on the mountain.  I may go visit for a few days but I might just spend the majority of my time walking on the beach or sitting in my portable rocking chair by a fire reading.  Possibilities.

Who knows what I may come up with.  But at least starting tomorrow afternoon there is a tent in my life.  I look forward to those times.

a bit of sewing

I have needed a lot of meditative activities.  There has not been a lot of energy so that means simple sewing and spinning.  Pillowcases are as about as simple as sewing gets.  I made another one.  New flannel.  It will fit in a tent nicely.

I cannot believe it is only Tuesday.  It has been such a week it really feels like it should be Friday.  Friday we will be watching motorcycles go round in circles.  I am going to be glad for the day off.  I think I need a longer day off and that makes me ponder.  New Orleans?  Beverly Beach on the Oregon Coast?  The mountain?  Just need some time off.

Tomorrow will be a good day.
