more small person pants

This is another pants for Small Mister to go under the tree.  His Momma is not sure about the style at all but I know that he likes the colors.

He has actually been helping make them.  His Momma has been working a bit and he wants to be able to see what I am doing.  He especially likes the sewing machine.  And working with Grandmomma.  I can tell he does not think I use everything the right way!

a new green dress

I know it is the time of year that sewing is mostly for other people.  And I will have to say that is true.  But I came across a picture of a dress online that I just had to try to make something similar.  It is my normal after work dress with pockets.  Or at least that was the bit of the picture that showed.  Since it was on tumblr, I was never able to find the original link.  I have a feeling the dress was either European or Japanese.

I found this lovely green print at a local quilt store.  It is a civil war cotton reproduction.  The drape is very nice and it is soft.  It does not drape like a quilting fabric at all.  And you can ask Small Mister about how soft it is.  He does not really like me to wear my aprons over it.  A few hours after this picture, the dress was done.

I put an attached petticoat in it.  The petticoat is a bit longer then it should be because I have learned the muslin I made it out of has a tendency to shrink more over time.  Sooner then I would like, it will be the same length as the skirt.  But I still will like having the petticoat underneath.

I am surprised how much I am enjoying the long sleeves.  I can push them up and they stay.  But the best part is the pockets!  I have pockets!  I am looking at my arm in this picture and thinking about how many bumps and burns I have.  Yes, I bake and do things.  I will never be a arm model.

I am really enjoying this dress.  I hope to find a burgundy print by the same company to make myself another for after work.

furry blanket

I finally finished this blanket.  We had seen something similar at Pottery Barn and I said "I can make this!"  I should have just bought the blanket at Pottery Barn!

The fabrics here are actually much nicer (and pricier) then what we felt.  We also really like the colors.  It was easy to make but not easy to work with.  That did not surprise me at all.  I am going to enjoy it this winter!

and the last bit for baby nacho

I had enough fabric leftover to make a bag for Baby Nacho's present.  My Beloved uses this type of bag for when he and Small Mister are out gallivanting.  I figured Poppa Nacho would appreciate.  Maybe Momma Nacho too.

I have to admit that it makes really good "wrapping paper" as well!

Because I did so much stitching with this fabric, I have actually started Baby Nacho's quilt, even though I have not finished the two I am working on currently.  The neighbors across the street had twins and Miss A and Mister G are very cute.  I am almost half way done with the nine squares for those two.

for baby nacho - part 1

It seems to be the season for babies in our lives.  We have another set of friends having their first child.  We got an invitation to their baby shower less then two weeks from now.  Getting all their family in one place is difficult.

I went through my stash and found that I had some fabric leftover from Small Mister.  It was washed and all ready to go to make receiving blankets.  I stitched them up while I was working on the nine squares for two quilts.  I found some other things in the stash that I will show you soon.
