more lace

My slow sewing project last week was this lace kimono.  I am still playing with lace.  I have one more bit of black lace left to make a slip with.  There are bits and pieces that may end up being little things I wish to try making.  I am really tired of clothes shopping.  Especially the little bits.

I am really like this lace pattern.  I am going to miss working with it.  I have a piece of plum lace next to work with but I have a few dresses and shirts to make.  There was a piece of lace I left at the store in a grey sage that I may pick up for myself as well.

Yes, I am the person who would wear a lace nightgown in a tent.  That is me.

quiet weekend

It was a very rainy weekend here.  Flooding actually.  It meant I did not go much farther then my rocking chair or the kitchen.  After all my sewing last week, I really did not feel like working on my sewing machine, spinning, or working with my crochet hook.  By the end of the weekend though, I started thinking about it.  Pondering.

I did pick flowers.  I am a flower junky like I have said before and I decided to do the #SeasonalFlowerAlliance that Floret Farms instigates on Instagram.  The goal is to take pictures of the flowers you pick locally and put into some type of a bouquet.  I actually have an Instagram account to do this now:  @elibjerklie .   I will take pictures of what I pick from my yarn and enjoy everyone else's.  More flowers!

I did have to share this picture though.  I laughed at myself because this is a quiet weekend in my kitchen!

last planned shawl

I started my last planned shawl this week.  I know who this is going to, which is why it is planned.  I know I have months before I have to figure out another project that can be with me at work but I am pondering.  Do I take a sweater?  Do I take another shawl?  If it is a shawl, who do I make it for.

I have some sock yarn I was thinking would make a cool shawl.  Striped in a blue green and orange.  It would fit in my beach bag well.  I find no matter what the time of year, I like to have a sweatshirt in my beach bag.   A shawl would just be a nice addition because my hair always makes my back wet.  When I go to the beach with other people, there is a tendency to stop and eat on the way back.  No one seems to be very satisfied with my thermos of tea and pb&j.  Even if I add some cookies!  I guess I should not be truly surprised.

I am planning at being at my sewing machine today.  Dresses to make.  A quilt to finish.  The garden is much to wet to dig in.  I have a few errands to run, including picking up a wedding present.  Then it is off to an evening wedding.  I still did not find a plus one to go with me so I am off by myself.  Not a huge deal.

a new deck!

I came home to a new deck on Monday!

After sleeping the weekend away, it was a fabulous surprise.

I did not get anything done this weekend but appear to have kicked my cough.  There is a little bit left but I am not hacking anymore.  I kept falling asleep on Saturday which is what I needed to do.  I fell asleep early after work yesterday as well.  I almost fell asleep watching an old movie tonight.

I had suggested this deck as a Valentine's gift from my Beloved.  And it got here!  Now, trucks and wheels . . .  Off to my favorite skate shop soon.  I would like the weather to not be as damp for a bit of ride.

being a dirt bag

I took the day of from life on Saturday.  There was crappy shoulder high surf forecasted and I decided that was something I needed to do.  I went to the beach with a couple thermoses of tea, a pb&j, my 3mm wetsuit, and my Yater spoon.  I need to remember not to leave everything in the water because getting my board back to my truck was harder then I expected.

My surfing was pretty poor but I had so much fun.  Yes, I need more practice but I laughed like a ninny too as the waves rushed me to shore.  There is nothing nice about surfing at Galveston.  It was its normal washing machine.  Most waves were mushy with then the one unexpected powerful one coming through.  I am so out of practice it was probably hilarious to watch.  But a day on the beach, in the water, on my board, no matter how bad it is, is better then a day in the office.  Did happen to mention I am actually afraid of the water.  It makes my surfing even funnier to watch.  Most of the surfers I have met are just stoked that I am trying.

I decided I needed to be a dirt bag more often.  If there is surf in the forecast, I need to go surfing if there is nothing pressing at work.

I did have to repair my 3mm wet suit.  I ordered the supplies a while back.  A bit of 3mm (and 5 mm) neoprene and the glue.

It was easier then I expected.  I must have done a good job because my patch held.  I hate getting my wet suit on but I really like my wet suit in the water and sitting watching waves.

The forecast says more surf this weekend.  I get to be a dirt bag again!  Wahoo!  Taking care of me.
